2008 Winter Camp Recap

On December 27th, 2008 LoJo Entertainment launched our inaugural pole vault camp in Columbia, SC on the campus of the University of South Carolina. “Our goal is provide a first class unique pole vault camp experience where pole vaulters of all ages and levels can come and learn, train, and expand their pole vault technique and competitive approach to promote a higher level of performance, consistency and safety for competitive pole vaulting.”

Boasting an experienced staff and assistants, first class accommodations at the Courtyard by Marriott, & healthy daily buffet styled catered meals the inaugural LoJo Vault Assault Camp was a joyous success and holds great anticipation for our larger summer camp feature adventure.

The highly spirited camp staff led by 2x Olympian, 7x US National Champion, former American Record Holder, current NCAA Record holder, & University of South Carolina Pole Vault Coach Lawrence “LoJo” Johnson was strongly complemented by the special appearances, guidance, and instruction of Roman Botcharnikov (former Coach of L. Johnson & author of the Pole Vault Manifesto), and the highly acclaimed University of Akron Head Coach Dennis Mitchell.  Through question and answer sessions, hands on vault instruction, and individualized attention and guidance through training technique, sprint mechanics, and gymnastics campers were pampered with an abundance of fun skill instruction.

In addition to relaxed discussions about ranging from the challenges to competing in the multiple Olympics, World Championships, to the multitude of diversity and experiences of worldwide travels, campers were also entertained in between and after sessions, by unforgettable vocal and musical performances of their peers and staff in the very popular American Idol, Guitar Hero, and Rock Band competitions.

“In everything we do, we aspire to be the best and provide the ultimate experiences for our campers. First and foremost, I love pole vaulting and competition, and I want to share that joy and my experiences with those who share the same love for competition and sport.” - LoJo
