VA Testimonials

LoJo Vault Assault strives to insure every athlete achieves their goals in the pole vault. Below are a few testimonials we would like to share.

Exactly what we were looking for

E. REESE, MOTHER OF MEGAN REESE (NEW HAMPSHIRE STATE CHAMPION AND SCHOOL RECORD HOLDER)

The training is exactly what we were looking for to supplement my daughter’s vault sessions and take her to new heights. Thanks to the personalized and strategic training that Lawrence and his team provide, in less than a year my daughter increased her PR by two feet and is positioned for continued success this coming year. Having access to the knowledge and expertise of an Olympic medalist who is so committed to each of his athletes is an incredible opportunity. Each component of the training program is related to an aspect of the vault which is clearly conveyed. Because Lawrence and his team go above and beyond so does the vaulter.

improve two feet and get my school record

RYAN ACKS (CHARLOTTE LATIN HIGH SCHOOL RECORD HOLDER)

Dear LoJo,

Thank you so much for everything you have done for me this year. Not only have you helped me improve two feet and get my school record, but more importantly you have helped me become an all around better person. My grades have never been better, I have never worked harder for anything in my life, and I have never been happier. My hard work and determination in pole vaulting translated to every aspect of my life, and that is all because of you. I have never met a more influential person in my life, and when people ask me who I want to be like when I grow up, I respond with, "Lawrence Johnson."

My advisor pulled me in his office the last week of school, right before AP exams, and told me how proud he was about my senior year and that he has never seen a student who has improved so much in one year. He asked me how it happened and I said it was because of you. You taught me how to work hard and persevere, even when things don't go your way. Yes, you have helped me more than I could imagine with pole vaulting, but in actuality you have helped me with so much more. You are a genuinely great person and role model. No one has made a greater impact on my life, and you have changed me for the better. I am so thankful I received the opportunity to work with you over the past year, and I will never forget this experience. I can't explain how grateful I am for everything you have done for me, and how lucky I am to know you.

Thank you,

Ryan Acks

Lawrence is the entire package

NICHOLAS MARINO (2012 UAGTCA OUTDOOR CHAMPIONSHIPS MEET RECORD HOLDER, 14 YRS OLD, 8TH GRADE POLE VAULTER, ONLY 5 FOOT TALL AND 98 LBS)

Lawrence Johnson - "LoJo" and company are the real deal!

Rarely you can find a coach that is compassionate and caring and has the ultimate knowledge of the sport. Usually you find a coach caring and compassionate and has all the mentor qualities that isn't the best technician. Then you have the great technician that has all the skills and technique but not a caring bone in their body and frankly can be mean, harsh or demeaning.

Lawrence is the entire package. He has heart, compassion, and technical ability to improve your vault almost instantly. He has an uncanny way to get across what he wants from you and you can understand and complete the tasks at hand immediately. It is amazing the quality of training that he exudes. The respect between coach and athlete is unparalleled. He truly cares about each athlete both mentally and physically.

And then behind the scenes is Christina... with the follow up, communication, drills and skills, diet, all around health and educational videos. The level of respect they (LoJo and Christina) have for each other reflects back to their athletes. The combination of LoJo and coaches is all anyone needs to excel in this sport. They are the complete package and prove just what is needed to be a true Olympian. Not just skill and talent but heart, perseverance, dedication, trust, sportsmanship, respect, confidence, health, diet, sleep, good grades, and sheer love for the sport.

I am an ex-level 10 optional gymnast that has seen all kind of coaches and technicians for the past 7 years. I left the sport of gymnastics this fall due to growing, injuries and quite frankly just burnt out.

I turned to pole vault and have not looked back ever since. I am hooked.

I saw Lawrence one weekend at a camp last summer (2012). I had just been vaulting about one month. After day 2 of camp I went to UAGTCA Championships and won the meet and I broke the meet record with 8' - 6" at age 13. I Continued to win numerous USATF meets and qualify to Nationals with only one month with a pole in my hand.

A half year later I visited Lawrence again for short 3 day clinic. My PR was 9' - 6" and I left my visit with 10' - 6" or better. I joined LoJo's Training Plans workout and have been following it to the T. I love it and can't wait for next week's plan to come via email each Monday.

My experience with Lawrence Johnson and company is +++++. I just wish we lived closer and i could train with him daily.

season best mark on one day of rest following camp

Troy McLean (daughter received a pole vault scholarship to a DI school.)

“Colleen tied PR and set a season best mark on one day of rest following camp. I suspect she will crush her PR when she vaults with fresh legs. She obliviously learned a lot.”
